Fuerteventura is the closest island of the Canaries to the North African coast. Although the partly mountainous country is rather dry and sparse, it has magnificent white sand beaches to compensate. There is a total of 77 km of coastline reserved for beaches which is far more than what any other of the Canary Islands have. The largest beaches are located in the south of the island on the peninsula of Jandía. However, in the north of the island and more specifically in La Oliva, you will find many beautiful beaches as well as one of our villas in Fuerteventura with private pool called finca Los Risquetes.

Fuerteventura is the perfect place for all water sports, because its beaches offer ideal conditions for many sports involving the sea. The most popular ones are surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. In fact, the island proudly hosts two major water sports events such as the Fuerteventura Windsurfing & Kiteboarding World Cup in Sotavento, and the Canarian Waveriders in Corralejo. Besides from sports, Fuerteventura is very famous for its wonderful beaches.

Fuerteventura is very dry, but at the same time exotic and mysteriously beautiful. That is mainly due to its volcanic origins and its particular geographical location. On land you can find plenty of cacti, palm trees and succulent plants, some of which are endemic. The fauna on land consists mainly of birds some of which are migratory species. There are also lizards, turtles and wild rabbits that live on Fuerteventura. Needless to say that you can find a great variety of flora and fauna on the sea if you want to go snorkeling. You can see all of those plants and animals if you want to stay in one of the many luxury villas to rent on Fuerteventura. Fuerteventura’s landscape is quite sparse, but it all changes with a more colorful and diverse underwater world. It’s diving reefs are famous for their fish abundance, especially large fish such as dolphins and manta rays.

In addition there are many musical events and festivals with both local and international artists such as the internationally famous WOMAD festival that has already taken place several times on Fuerteventura. Another musical highlight is the Festival Internacional de Música de Canarias which is ideal for classical music fans.
