Lanzarote is known as the "island of fire" because its landform is characterized for its volcanic origins. One of the island’s highlights is the volcanic landscape of its famous Natural Park called Parque Nacional de Timanfaya, where hot fumes are still rising from the craters. Lanzarote is the perfect choice if you want to combine villas in Lanzarote near the beach with a cultural experience.
One of the most internationally known artists of the Canary Islands is César Manrique who was born in Lanzarote’s capital city Arrecife. He was a painter, architect, sculptor and environmentalist among other things, so we definitely recommend you to check out his works when you visit Lanzarote in your holidays. He made a name for himself in the international arts scene. Some of his works were exhibited in New York where he was inspired by new artistic movements such as Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. In collaboration with the government of Lanzarote, he developed a uniform architectural structure for the island with traditional white houses, green doors and not more than 3 floors.Surprisingly, this concept has been carried through to the present day and shapes the image of the island
The north of the island is green and fertile. There you should make a trip to Haría located in the valley of a thousand palm trees where the beautiful palm grove is surrounded by gardens and fields. It is one of the most fertile areas of the island to which you can easily get to if you choose to stay in one of our Lanzarote’s villas for rent. Potatoes, legumes, cereals and vegetables are grown there. More than 10,000 palm trees have been counted, many of which belong to the endemic palm tree specie Phoenix canariensis, found only in the Canary Islands.
A trip to Haría can be combined with a visit to the famous Cueva de los Verdes, which is a lava tunnel where the inhabitants of the island once hid from pirates. Also in the area you can find Jameos del Agua which is an architectural masterpiece built by César Manrique. Further to the north you can admire the viewpoint Mirador del Río, which was also designed by Manrique, and there you can enjoy the spectacular views of Fuerteventura.
In the center of the island, you should visit the beautiful and quiet town of Yaiza that has a church that was built in the 17th century. In addition, you can also visit the wine-growing area La Geria, which has a unique landscape and the famous vineyards.
Playa Blanca, located in the south of Lanzarote, was once a small fishing village. Today it’s one of the most popular destinations of Lanzarote. The place is located on the southern tip of the island near the beautiful beaches Playas de Papagayo. The long beach promenade connects the local beaches of Playa Blanca, Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada. At playa blanca you can find many of our villas in Lanzarote with private pool.
